Top 10 Places I Want To Visit #Wanderlust

I have always loved travelling. Going to another country to immerse myself in a different culture and history is one of my all time favourite things to do but so far I've only ever been to Greece and Portugal. Dan also has a longing to travel over the world and so in the next few years we have big plans when it comes to travelling.

1. Italy - I've wanted to go to Italy for as long as I can remember, everything about it appeals to me, the culture, the history, the food. It's just a beautiful, beautiful place and I can't wait to visit. The main places in Italy that I want to visit are obviously Rome, Naples and Venice but I'm really hoping to be able to travel all over Italy, Dan also has Italian family so it's pretty much on the top of our list for the next place to go.

2. Japan - I have had a massive fascination with Japan since I was around 12 and starting watching Anime. I no longer watch Anime, but the fascination with Japan has lasted and I cannot wait to be able to fly over there and experience it first hand myself. Quite obviously I would like to see Tokyo but I would also love to travel to some of the quieter areas and experience the rural life.

3. USA - This is more for Dan, I've never been massively excited by the idea of going to the states. Don't get me wrong I would still like to but if I'm being entirely honest it would be mainly for the food. Dan has had an obsession with american culture, food and lifestyle for as long as I have known him and I know that going to America is something that he desperately wants to do. We both would love to road trip around certain states. In particular New Orleans, Florida and Hawaii.

4. Mexico - I have an obsessive interest in Mayan history after reading Steve Alten's Mayan Prophecy books and ever since I have longed to go to Chichen Itza. Apparently it is an incredibly awe inspiring place to visit and I would be in my element. Also Mexico has an incredibly rich heritage and I would be fascinated to learn more.

5. Peru - For similar reasons as above, I would love to go to Peru. Peru has so many ancient cities to explore and the history behind it all is absolutely fascinating. It also has the Amazon running through it and the jungle is meant to be stunning and filled with wildlife without the cost and spoiling of the more popular Brazilian counterpart.

6. Finland - This is one that both Dan and I have wanted to go to for years. We both have a massive love for the Finnish Rock Band H.I.M and have said for years that we would visit Finland and go see them in concert. I'm not sure if the concert bit will ever happen now but we certainly still want to visit the country. We're particularly interested in visiting Helsinki as it is an absolutely beautiful city filled with history.

7. France - This one probably seems a little bit vanilla in comparison to the rest on my list. But despite living in Canterbury for 3 years (which is technically closer to Calais than London) I have never been to France. I am a massive foodie and the French lifestyle really appeals to me, I have wanted to go to France forever so I'm really hoping I will be able to make a trip in the next year or two.

8. Germany - I've had so many people telling me that I need to go to Germany at Christmas time to experience the Christmas Markets. Germany really does Christmas right and I would love to go over there for a few days to experience the markets in their festive glory.

9. Ireland - I have Irish heritage in my family but aside from that I've just always wanted to visit Ireland. The countryside is beautiful and they have many national parks and stunning scenery that I think would be lovely for a nice little getaway.

10. India - One of my bucket list things is to go to India and visit some of the wildlife sanctuaries. I absolutely adore Elephants and I can't think of anything more beautiful than seeing one in it's natural environment. India is also rich in history and culture and so this massively appeals to me.

So as you can see, I'm going to be busy for the next few years! Dan and I are really keen to start travelling properly and I can't wait for next year when we will be able to afford to go away.

  2. I'd also love to visit France! Maybe not Paris but a smaller town or village in the countryside.
I live in Finland in Helsinki and you should definitely come visit. There's not really much to see though, especially outside of Helsinki haha. But it sure is nice and quiet around here.
