REVIEW: Lush Dark Angels

There is something infinitely intimidating about smearing a black charcoal paste onto your skin and hoping that it miraculously makes your skin better.

However, despite my initial reservations Lush's Dark Angels has proven that it can and will make your skin clearer, brighter and fresher.

Dark Angels is perhaps one of Lush's more intimidating cleansers but don't be put of by the black exterior as this little pot of gold will soon be a key item in your skincare collection.

Main ingredients:

Charcoal Power - Rhassoul Mud - Avocado Oil - Rosewood Oil - Black Sugar

Unlike Herbalism, the texture of Dark Angels is more of a scrub rather than a milky cleanser. The Black Sugar and Rhassoul mud offer a deeply cleansing and exfoliating experience that doesn't leave your face feeling red raw or stripped of oils. Instead you are left with perfectly cleansed and clear skin.

The scent is hard to describe so I would have to recommend smelling it in the shop but to me its quite a sweet almost minty-almost liquorice smell but still very pure and natural.

To apply pick up a fingertip worth of the paste and massage in circles onto dampened skin. Add a little more water with your fingertips if it feels too dry and gently scrub. Remove with a hot flannel. Be prepared to spend some time getting this off as the charcoal makes the cleanser a little difficult to shift. If your skin looks grey you've not properly taken the cleanser off!!

I tend to use this every other day if my skin is behaving, if my skin plays up then I might switch back over to Herbalism to calm any breakouts before going back to Dark Angels for a gentle exfoliation.

You can buy this from any Lush store at £6.95 for 100g. One pot would probably last me around 4-5 months.

Have you tried Dark Angels?
What's your opinion on it? Let me know in the comments!

  2. I really love this! I only use it about twice a week since it's an exfoliant after all, and my skin tends to get dry and irritated if I exfoliate too often. Mask of Magnaminty is still my all time LUSH favourite though!
