nailbox Subscription Box Review!

Today I've got a rather exciting post for you about a new Subscription box service that has opened up to the UK market called nailbox*! nailbox is a monthly subscription for £13.50 or you can buy a one off box to try for £15. In each box you receive 4 polishes and a nail tool/treatment/accessory. Each box is a mystery until its delivered so you don't know what polishes your getting until you open your box, but they are themed throughout the year so you are bound to have 4 polishes that are seasonal and wearable!

ORLY Colour Blast in Fiery Orange Chunky Glitter. 

This really is a fiery orange colour and has large glitter particles and confetti style glitter. The formulation is a gel style and the glitter is quite difficult to distribute evenly. Overall I wasn't thrilled with this polish, I wasn't fond of the colour (I don't think it suits my skin), it took 3 coats for a decent coverage and I found that it just made my nails look messy and uneven. I would rate this polish a 3/10 as it really wasn't great.

Nicole by OPI in Alex by the Books.

I really liked this shade, it's a minty blue/green (if that makes sense) and is nice and bright on the nails. It has the classic wide OPI brush which makes application a doddle and you only need 2 coats for an opaque covering. However, this shade actually came out at the end of 2012 for the Modern Family Collection and so is pretty impossible to find (except on Amazon). A good dupe for this though is Barry M's Sugar Apple which is still widely available and considerably cheaper at only £3.99!

Essie in Status Symbol 

This is a beautiful Hot Pink and is perfect for the summer, the application is easy and in two coats you get an even streak free coverage. I honestly have no bad points about this polish! You can purchase this from Boots for £7.99

Rimmel London 60 Seconds in Lucky Lilac

This is probably my favourite of the bunch, it's a beautiful pastel lilac but is vibrant enough to look great in the spring/summer. It does dry quickly and only takes 2 thin coats to create an opaque colour. However, there is the same problem with this polish as with the OPI as it is an old release from around 2012. If you want the polish you will have to hunt around Amazon or Ebay for it or find a dupe, sadly I can't think of any at this moment in time but if I find one I will be sure to update this post. 

Elegant Touch Professional Cuticle Pusher and Nail Cleaner

This tool is designed to push back cuticles and clean underneath your nails, it has a easy grip handle and feels like a quality product. The cleaning end is quite sharp as it is made of stainless steal but it does seem to do the job well. You can purchase this from Boots for £9.50.

Overall I love the concept of this box, I am a nail polish fanatic with a collection vast approaching 150 as it is, so this is right up my street. However, I find the inclusion of products that are no longer stocked a little ... dubious? If I love a polish I like to recommend it to you guys and to my friends and family, so if I wear the OPI or Rimmel and get asked about it, I will have to say that it's no longer stocked. Obviously some people may think this is a benefit of the box as it's allowing you to get your hands on products that are no longer readily available, so I guess it really just depends on your perspective! Regardless of that I do love the concept of the box and I think once the kinks are worked out this will be a brilliant service. This box was worth £26.99 retail value (not including the discontinued polishes) so it really is a brilliant value for money box.
