REVIEW: Vichy Idealia

Well done Emily. You photographed the French side.
If you can't read French and you want to know the box details it says: "Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream for Dry Skin"

Towards the end of last year I was kindly sent Vichy Idealia* by the lovely people at Vichy to test out and see what I thought about it. I have wanted to try Vichy for quite some time but with the price range being at the higher end of my budget I was always wary whether or not to take a chance and buy it just in case it didn't suit my skin. I jumped at the chance to test it out and I've been using it frequently for the past month or so.

The formulation is for Dry skin which I was slightly dubious about as I actually have Combination skin and get quite an oily t-zone. However since it's been colder I just went with it as I was pretty sure that my skin needed some TLC. As for texture it is in between a cream and a gel, it's slightly bizarre but it did sink into my skin quickly (and it didn't roll up into balls which is a plus as this type of formula normally will). The smell is luxurious and reminds me of a spa experience, it is strong though so if heavily scented products aren't your thing then stay well away.

The product aims to reduce wrinkles and even skin tone. At the age of 21 the anti-wrinkles thing is neither here nor there for me but what really peaked my interest was the claim that it helps to even out skin tone. I have had years of stress acne that has left me with some lovely scarring and I also get redness around my nose, so I was really interested to see whether this cream would actually help that.

I can say that it did help to lessen the redness around my nose but I noticed no visible difference in the acne scars which was slightly disappointing.
To be honest with you the whole product has left me feeling slightly underwhelmed. I don't dislike the product, not by a long shot. However, I don't feel like it's a holy grail product... it's just nice.

It is a good moisturiser. It doesn't feel too heavy on the skin and it has a nice smell. I can't really say anything more than that. If you're looking for a magical 'this does it all' product then I can't recommend this, however if you want a good quality moisturiser that sinks into the skin nicely, helps to reduce redness and smells good then this may be more up your street.

Have you used Idealia? What did you think about it?
Make sure you come back tomorrow for a Yankee Candle Haul!

  1. I haven't tried Vichy before but I always here positive things about the brand :) It's important to take care of your skin no matter what age as prevention is key! My mum has always taught me to look after my skin and I'm pretty sure I started creaming my face at 13 lol.

I'm soon to be 32 and yes I do notice a wrinkle or two however it's certainly not too bad for my age and I do have great mums advice to thank for that ;)

    Lovely post and photos!
