This summer just past was pretty successful as far as reading goes. I managed to read 20 books which I feel quite satisfied about. I thought I would share with you what books I read and my initial opinions on the book. I keep a book journal where I write down my immediate opinion of the book I've just finished reading for future reference. It's usually only a quick rushed short sentence but I really like cataloguing the books I read this way as well as storing them on GoodReads.
The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury (04/06)
"Twylla is another irritating character, she questions nothing until the end. The story is painfully slow until the last 100 or so pages. The ending is actually good though so I rated this 3.5."
The Archived by Victoria Schwab (06/06)
"I was unsure on the plot but it picked up midway. Victoria's writing is a dream! I can't criticise this it's FLAWLESS!!"
Cinder by Marissa Meyer (07/06)
"This was such an interesting twist on Cinderella. I love Cinder & Price Kai. Really intrigued by the Plague & the Lunars. Look forward to book 2."
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige (09/06)
"Loved this story! Kept me interested throughout. Amy is an awesome character and I still don't know who to trust! Love, love, love this!"
Dissolution by C.J. Sansom (16/06)
"An exciting murder mystery set in Tudor times. Character development is great and the story keeps you guessing."
The Purgatorium by Eva Pohler (30/06)
"Disappointing. Will not read the next in the series. Interesting concept but poor execution."
The Duff by Kody Keplinger (1/07)
"Super quick and easy read! Read this in one sitting. It was funny, well written and interesting. LOVED it!"
A Clash Of Kings by George R.R. Martin (06/07)
"FINALLY! After 7 months I have finished this tome! I enjoyed the writing but this was a seriously slow read for me!"
The Bees by Laline Paull (16/07)
"Really interesting and gripping read. Love the world that Paull has built. No longer afraid of Bees!"
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (19/07)
"Interesting book although at times I found this a little too 'teeny'. Found the ending disappointing!"
The Girl Inbetween by Laekan Zea Kemp (27/07)
"Riveting! Love this book the concept is so unique and the characterisation is lovely! Really look forward to the second of this trilogy."
Vicious by V.E Schwab (05/08)
"A story without a good guy! I found myself routing for Victor despite his evil ways! LOVED this book! I hope there's a sequel!"
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey (23/08)
"An amazing dystopia and one of the best I've read! Cassie is so relate-able and the plot development feels natural and realistic. I LOVED this book."
Hard Times by Charles Dickens (27/08)
"One of the better Victorian novels I have read but it is still dull and the use of local dialect became annoying."
A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Mass (31/08)
"OMG. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! Genuinely couldn't put it down. The story is rich, the characters are rewarding. It's just fantastic!"
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift (05/09)
"I actually enjoyed this despite it being tedious at times. Swifts use of fantasy made the read interesting and kept me reading!"
The Beggar's Opera and Polly by John Gay (09/09)
"I really enjoyed this play. It was lively, funny and full of action! If only all classics were this good!"
The Elite by Kiera Cass (14/09)
"Maxon just annoyed me in this book he is all words and no backbone! I like America still although I dislike how she keeps flitting between men! That being said I still enjoyed the book and will read #3 at some point!"
Jonathan Wild by Henry Fielding (14/09)
"Sadly the humour of this book miss me completely and I just found it a dull, slow read! I am glad to be finished with it."
The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige (20/09)
"Really enjoyed this sequel it kept the same pace as the first book and the hook at the end was brilliant!"
That's it for this behemoth of a post! I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed reading (most) of these! Remember to comment below and let me know your opinions!
