December Glossybox... Festive Treasures

Finally, I am bringing you a Glossybox review in the month it was sent to me!! Hallelujah they shout!

This months box is the Festive Treasures and this is apparent in the stunning red Christmas box!! However, the products are not quite as christmassy as I had hoped for!!!

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics - Nude Lip Gloss
BMC is a company that has been set up by former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, having already received the BMC Prime & Create back in May's Glossybox I had high hopes for this little lip gloss! This gloss has no scent and thankfully hasn't got the horrid sticky quality to it like so many lip glosses do! The colour is a fairly subtle nude, its pretty and doesn't make you lips overly pale or orangey. I like this but I don't love this and I wouldn't necessarily be purchasing this again and probably wouldn't choose it over another colour.
This is a 4ml sample worth £6
FULL SIZE 8ml worth £12

Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Razor
Now if your surprised to see this, imagine my surprise opening my "luxury sample box" to find a razor. Not exactly a luxurious festive treasure is it? I mean come on glossybox, granted you may have been given a truck load of these from Wilkinson Sword to shift but why, oh why, include them in your CHRISTMAS box. This is neither a luxury product nor is it festive in the slightest. I honestly don't know what to say about this other than I'm shocked that this was included. The glossybox excuse on the card was "Your party essential for ready to bare legs this christmas" which lets face it you could replace 'Christmas' with any holiday or season and it would still be appropriate (hair free legs aren't a Christmas essential but an all year round one!). I wont rant any more but this was really disappointing, shame on you glossybox!
This is a FULL SIZE product worth £6.49

Maybelline New York Colour Tattoo 24hr Eye Shadow - 35- On and on Bronze
FINALLY a product I was happy to see! I have been after this bad boy for weeks and its frequently out of stock when I go to buy it. This is a beautiful shimmery bronze cream eyeshadow that is super pigmented and glides onto your lids effortlessly. I have been wearing this today and I am pleased to report that the colour is still going strong 8hrs after application! I won't be leaving it 24hrs as I take my makeup off when I go to bed but 8hrs is good enough for me! My one niggle with this is that Maybelline is an easy to access brand, I mean its sold in every superdrug and boots that I know of, I subscribed to glossybox to try samples from brands I would likely have never found without them being given to me to test. But maybe that's me being fussy! I am happy to have received this and I will be using it alot so I can't complain.
This is a FULL SIZE product worth £4.99

Seche Seche Nail Lacquer - Blanc II
Another product I have mixed emotions on, as a general rule I love receiving nail polish, I am obsessed with the stuff and have a collection that is growing past 60. However, white nail polish is never particularly useful, I never wear white polish unless its for a special reason (nail art or the likes) and for that I already have a sinful colours polish that does the job brilliantly and cost me next to nothing. So having received a Seche Nail polish and knowing that they are some of the best polishes to own you can imagine my ultimate disappointment when the colour is white. I mean hello glossybox, would not a red, green, glitter or gold been more appropriate for the festive season? I get that white = snow, but honestly how many people go around with completely white nails? If it even had a shimmer in it, I could have accepted it, but no, its a plain underwhelming white.
How rubbish. I doubt this will be used.
This was a FULL SIZE product worth £9.95

Lipsy London Glam
Oh how I wish I could tell you something about this but sadly, I received the cardboard slip but not the vial of perfume... Unfortunately all I can tell you is that the piece of card is pretty and that is it. What I can say is that I am starting to get a little bored with perfume samples, It was fun a little while back but its starting to feel like a cop-out. In the September edition we received a Elizabeth Arden sample that was a miniature of the big bottle and was in a miniature of the big box, It felt like an actual SAMPLE not a freebie. This sample even states on the back ... "Free Sample" It is just me that thinks Glossybox are getting cheap?
This SHOULD BE an 2ml sample and is worth.. well nothing its a "FREE SAMPLE".
FULL SIZE worth £25 for 50ml
You can purchase the full size here

That's it for this months glossybox post. To summarise, A sample lip gloss, a Maybelline eye-shadow, a white nail varnish, a non existent perfume sample and a razor. Not a partridge or a pear tree in sight! Not what I would call a good box or a festive one. I'm praying that the special Christmas box they released will be much better as its been purchased as a extra Christmas present from Dan my boyfriend.

In total this box is worth £27.43 but I personally think that the money could have been spent better on other more suitable products...

What do you think? Was your box a dud this month?

  1. Oh that's bad you didn't even get the perfume sample, I mean I fully agree with you that it's a cheap cop out on GB terms to send perfume samples, especially when they say FREE on them, but to not get it at all is disgusting :(

    Juyey Xx

    1. I was so disappointed, I've never had any major issues with my glossybox until now :( So sad that the Christmas box was such a let down! And sending out samples that even state "free" seems really cheeky! xx
