I love a good dark statement lip. In winter time it is the perfect shade of grey outside to rock the pale skin with contrasting super dark lip and it's one of my favourite things to do. This season I have collected a few new lipsticks and been returning to some old favourites so I thought I would share with you my top 5 dark lips.
Prewarning: This post will contain terrible selfies of me wearing each lipstick. Deal with it.
P.S: I ruined my lips for these swatches. Be grateful.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Insolent Plum - Estee Lauder are a brand that I often overlooked as being a 'mature' woman's range. But after a little browse in my local Fenwicks one day last year, I came across their lipstick range and was mesmerised. So the love affair began. These lipsticks are everything I want. Luxurious, classy, pigmented, moisturising, with lasting power! They are my favourite Lipsticks and I am dying to get my hands on some more once I manage to muster up some more money as these are one of the highest priced lipsticks at £25 each. But they're worth every penny.
MAC Cremesheen in Party Line - Every one has that one lipstick that makes them feel just that little bit sassier right? Well Party Line is that lipstick for me, As you can tell from that pouting photo above. It's the perfect "I'm not a red" red, if that makes sense. The formulation means that it doesn't dry my lips out (like other MAC lipsticks can) and the colour is just to die for. It's also the easiest to apply in a hurry which is always a bonus. MAC is very mid-range at £15.50 so it's not going to break the bank but equally you probably shouldn't be buying 10 at once (Unless you have that kind of money in which case I am incredibly jealous!)
YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 08 Belle De Rose - This was actually gifted to me by my friend Emily who has a ridiculous collection of lipsticks (I mean it's CRAZY) because she thought it would suit me better than her. I love this lipstick but frustratingly I think the 08 shade has been discontinued as I can't find it online anywhere! This is the perfect dark vampy red/berry tone and once it fades it leaves a plum stain on the lips that is just lovely. The only downside with this lipstick is that it is the most difficult thing to apply neatly and I always have to use a lip liner and lip brush in order for it to look nice and neat. However, that aside it really is a lovely lipstick but again be cautious of the price here as these come in at the handsome sum of £26 each.
Revlon Super Lustrious Creme Lipstick in Va Va Violet - This is one of my newer purchases as I was looking for a really dark purple to bring out when I was feeling like I didn't want to talk to anyone (we all have those days) and this looked just the treat. I really really love the colour of this Lipstick. It's cool toned but not so dark that I look completely gothic and it compliments my skin colour really nicely. I'm very happy with the budget friendly lipstick at only £7.99 but the only downfall is that the formula isn't quite as long lasting or even coverage as the higher priced lipsticks. But I feel like that's to be expected and you can still get this lipstick looking just as good, it just needs a little more time.
Revlon Colourstay Moisture Stain in Parisian Passion - This is my go-to for a no fuss dark lip. It's super quick, stays on like a dream, doesn't make your lips feel all goopy and grim and it has a lovely pigmentation that stains the lips. It's great and I highly recommend if you are just starting to experiment with a dark lip as it isn't too in your face. It's also an absolute steal at only £7.99!!
Here are some hand swatches in case you're into them. From Left to Right we have: Insolent Plum, Belle De Rose, Party Line, Parisian Passion and Va Va Violet.
I hope you enjoyed today's post. Lemme know what your fave Dark Lips are I'm always on the hunt for more so I would love to hear your suggestions. Also sorry about the selfies but a girls gotta swatch.

I thought so too! It is one of my all time favourite lipsticks! xx
DeleteOh my gosh, that Estee Lauder lipstick is to die for! I find it hard to incorporate darker shades into my make-up because I have such pale skin (They always wash away the other colours in me). But these colours are gorgeous!
