Best Books I've Read This Year... So Far!

For this post I basically had to choose between my children (*read cats*) I've read so many great books this year but I thought I would choose from the ones that I have 5*s to on GoodReads and the ones that have stuck with me even after months of reading other books.

In no particular order...

1. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard - This is was a huge release earlier this year and was really hyped. I actually agree with the hype here. It's a great read. A tad stereotypical with the love interest but hey it's a YA so I'm not going to bitch about it. The twist at the end is epic and left me dying to read the next one sadly the sequel isn't out until February 2016, but that gives you loads of time to get reading this if you haven't already!

2.A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas - Another super hyped book that I think completely deserves it. An epic fantasy that is set in a world where humans and faeries co-exist but not very happily. Takes you through a steamy love story with some kick-ass action and brutal plot twists. Again the sequel won't be out until May 2016 which again gives you plenty of time to get on the hype train.

3. Dissolution by C.J. Sansom - Perhaps a surprise as it doesn't fall under the category of Fantasy or YA but it's such a good read! Dissolution is set in the time of Henry VIII when he orders Cromwell to dissolve the monasteries. This is a historical murder mystery and its epic. It keeps you guessing, its really interesting and C.J. Sansom has all her historical facts correct so it won't annoy any history buffs either! What's even better is that there are already 6 books in this series out so you can binge read as much as you want or you can read them as stand alones it's really your choice.

4. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab - Okay so you guys probably knew this would be on my list. I talk about it all the time. It's probably my favourite book to date. Schwab's writing is a dream to read and the story is enthralling, engaging and hilarious at times. What I loved so much about this book is that there isn't any romance between the lead characters. Kell and Delilah have more of a brother/sister relationship and its so refreshing to read! The sequel is out in February 2016!

5. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey - I really enjoyed this book, I'm a fan of dystopia/post apocalyptic style reads and this fell quite nicely into that category. The lead female feels genuine and the action is crazy. Really addictive read that absorbed me. The sequel Infinite Sea is already out and the 3rd book The Last Star will be out May 2016!

That's all for today! I hope you've enjoyed reading my recommendations and I hope you get some bookish inspiration!
