5 Things To Help You Gain Motivation

Potentially the least motivational photo - but isn't he cute.

Sometimes we all need a bit of motivation in life, right now is one of those times for me. Unemployment and lack of social life has left me in a Netflix coma eating a copious amount of biscuits and feeling a smidge stagnant. So ironically, whilst writing this post, I have been procrastinating and struggling to find said motivation.  The joys of unemployment, eh?!

Here are my 5 tips to help you (and hopefully me) gain back an ounce of motivation:

1. Get organised-  for me the easiest way to gain back some motivation to get off my butt is to get super organised. If like me you're a fan of all the blogger trends - hand me my Bujo, marble background and a tonne of rose gold items and I'm a happy bunny - then you can utilise your bullet journal to help stay focused. If you're not a fan of wasting hours over an overpriced glorified note book then you can just write lists in a good ole' fashioned note book!

2. Get moving- Taking a short walk in the mornings not only helps to get the blood flowing but it also helps you to wake up and get the day going in the right direction. I always find that I can concentrate more if I've had a short walk or even dared to do some exercise (although that's not often!)

3. Get creative- I tend to find that when I'm in a motivational slump, getting creative really helps me, whether it's doodling, painting, reading or listening to some music, having a creative outburst tends to help me get thinking and starts the ole' brain ticking over again.

4. Get researching- Sometimes a lack of motivation can come because of feeling stuck in a rut or out of ideas. Often if I'm struggling to get writing I will read other peoples blogs, read literature, read magazines - anything to help me come up with some ideas of my own and get the ball rolling.

5. Get passionate- Probably the most irritating thing in the world to read but hear me out. If your not passionate about something then it's pretty easy to lose interest and every scrap of motivation. But once you're invested in something the motivation seems to naturally flow without much strain. I mean think about it... when  you're hooked on a tv show, you don't need any extra motivation to watch it! If you can apply that attitude to the tasks that are holding you back you will be good to go my friends!

So that's my 5 tips on motivation, which ironically took me 3 days to write due to a lack of motivation... but lets not talk about that.

What are your motivational tips?

  1. I agree with all of these points! I find keeping to the same routine everyday helps with motivation! Also setting goals at the start of the day so you say on track and don't get lost in a never ending cycle of binge watching TV and snacking! I defneitely need to get moving more though, I could sit down at my desk and not realise that half of the day has passed and I haven't moved! Xx

  2. These are really good tips. Think I've fallen down on motivation lately, really need to get inspired into blogging and everything else again! It's that downfall from finishing university I think.

  5. I agree with all of these points, especially 'get researching'. I also like being really organised with a to-do list that I can get satisfaction from ticking off - that motivates me to do things!
