August GlossyBox!!

Hey Guys!!!

Well as you can see today my August GlossyBox arrived. If you don't know what GlossyBox is, it's a monthly subscription box that sends out 5 luxury products for you to try. It costs £10 a month and you can subscribe here.
This months theme is "High-flyers" for girls on the go, and to continue with the theme this months products are sourced from around the world!
We also welcome Rachel Kavanagh as the new CEO of GlossyBox UK so it shall be really interesting to see if the boxes change at all with the new influence!!

Also has anyone else noticed that the paper and layout used for the little glossy mag has changed slightly? I'm not sure I like it.

So the first product I noticed was this little beauty, if you follow GlossyBox on Facebook you may already know about this product as they kindly gave us a sneak peek into this months compulsory item. I was pretty damn excited to see this bad boy as I had eyelash curler written down on my list of things to buy. I don't ever use Eyelash curlers as I am blessed with long natural eyelashes (a feature that has been commented on throughout my childhood by family!) however I still had a longing to see if a Eyelash curler would make any difference and so I am really looking forward to using these! (sorry for the rabble!)
It's from: Sweden
They say: Developed with professional make-up artists for their requirements, the Professional Eye Lash Curler has a special curved design to suit all eye shapes, without touching your makeup base.
It costs:  Approximately £20, can be purchased at www.emitemakeup.com

I then saw this as it was the biggest item in the box and to be honest with you, I was pretty underwhelmed. I have used Make-up Remover pens for mistakes in my makeup before and found that they just tend to spread the problem and that a little miscellar water on a folded cotton pad works better. However I will try this but if I don't find it useful it will probably end up with mum. I kind of hope I don't like this in a way anyway, as it's not available to the UK as of yet, so if I love it, I'm screwed!
It's from: Brazil
They Say: This pen delivers the mobile, mess- and fuss free make-up touch-up/ removal solution we have always wanted when stuck on planes, trains and automobiles.
It costs: ?? Who knows, I've tried to find this out but to no avail so if anyone knows or has an approx idea of how much this is in £££ lemme know!!

I then rummaged and picked up this little beauty. I love skin care, I think that's pretty obvious with my complete obsession for Elemis skincare and so I'm constantly trying to see if I can find products that can top or compare with my growing Elemis range as although I love the products I do not love the price tag! So when I saw this and saw it was for oil-prone skin I immediately thought brilliant! I have pesky blackheads and huge pores on my nose that DO NOT BUDGE so I'm hoping this improves that! This product also smells great as it contains Wild Mint, Eucalyptus and Witch Hazel.
It's from: Ancient Indian principles
They Say: UrbanVeda is a brand new skincare range, reflecting Ayurveda's holistic health and well-being system based on the idea of using nature to live a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. The UrbanVeda range has been formulated to naturally combat pollution, leaving skin less vulnerable to the environment.
It costs: Full size £8.99, 20ml sample worth £1.43, can be purchased here www.urbanveda.co.uk

Okay, so I'm guessing to the majority of you this is a pretty well known brand and quite frankly I was pretty disappointed to see this in my box as it's not really the luxurious unique product I expect from GlossyBox. That being said this isn't a bad product, I'm sure it's good and will work but it's just not very exciting and to be honest I could pick this up anywhere, whereas there are loads of amazing US brands that we can't get hold of in the UK  that would of been awesome to try out!
It's from: USA
They Say: New TRESemme Keratin Smooth Concentrated Treatment Shot will return sun, sea, salt and chlorine weathered hair to summer goddess glory!
It costs: £1.49 you can purchase this from Superdrug, Boots, Tesco and Waitrose.

And last but not least is the Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow, I received this in black which I'm actually really happy about considering one of the colour options was a metallic pinky colour, and black is pretty versatile. This looks like a good idea and I received the Jelly Pong Pong Waterproof Mascara in my May GlossyBox which was pretty good, so I'm hoping that this is good as well!
It's from: UK!
They say: The perfect multi-tasker for travelling, this creamy 2-in-1 crayon can be used to line the eyes as well as smudged and blended as an eyeshadow.
It's cost: £10.50, you can purchase this at www.jellypongpong.com

So overall it was definately a mixed box. I love the eyelash curler and skin care, I like the Jelly Pong Pong and I am really disappointed with the Make-up Remover pen and TRESemme.

The total product worth of this box (excluding the make-up remover pen as there is no price) is : £33.42 so not a bad box in the value for money department.

What did you get this month? Comment below!

  1. I also received mine today, and I got the same products. This was my first box and I'm a little disappointed, especially compared previous months.

    1. It's such a shame you started off with this box! Last months was fantastic and this one was a little disappointing! I can honestly say this was the first box I've received that I've been disappointed with!

  3. Are these full sized products or sort of sample/trail sized? I mean for £10 a month this seems a pretty good deal!

Rather tempted to sign up myself!

    1. In this box there are 4 full size and 1 sample but it does vary, however the samples that I have received so far have always been fairly generous :) They always promise that you will receive more than your paying for and if you don't at least get your money worth in products then I'm pretty sure you can complain and they will solve it. I love my glossybox subscription as I like trying new products I'd probably never purchased for myself but if you want some control over what you receive there is another box called beautecobox(http://beautecobox.co.uk/boxes/) that is also £10 and assures that you always get 5 full sized products but you have a choice :) Hope that helped!!
